The State Exchange for commodities and raw materials of Turkme-nistan has been created by Presidential order in 1994 and plays a fundamental part in the organization and in coordination
of com-mercial operations with abroad. The amount of trade realized through this channel grows form year to year, forming now a considerable percentage of the total volume of international trade of the country. For promoting a further developing of trade the
Ashgabat Exchange at the moment is being furnished with a information system that will make it possible to know in real time prices and available quantities of a certain commodity on internal and international
markets. Main commodities are by-products of petroleum, natural gas, cotton, kara-kul wool, textile products and carpets, while main commercial part-ners are Turkey, Iran, Russia, Ukraine, the United States, Germany and the United Arabian Emirates.
