In Turkmenistan there are taxis runned by state corporations and ta-xis runned by private companies. For users the difference is not re-markable and prices of journeys are not high. It is anyway advisable in both cases to fix in advance the price to pay at the end of the journey in order to avoid misunderstandings. Indicatively the cost of a journey restricted to the urban area should not exceed 2 US$, while the journey from the international airport of Ashgabat to the centre of the city should not exceed 5 US$.
