The national airline company of Turkmenistan is the Turkmenistan Airlines, connecting the country with some of principal international airports of Europe and Asia. The direct international flights which con-nect Ashgabat with London, Birmingham, Frankfurt, Moscow, Kiev, Tashkent, Alma Ata, Istanbul, Abu Dhabi, New Delhi, Amritsar and Bangkok make now easy to reach Turkmenistan from every country of the world. The capital Ashgabat is connected by regular internal flights with all principal cities of the country. For passenger flights Turkmenistan Airlines utilizes airplanes Boeing 717, 737 and 757.
Some foreing companies, as Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines, Iran Air and Pakistan Airlines have also regular flights towards the Turkmen capi-tal.
In 1994 a new international airport has been opened at Ashgabat. The airport is endowed with the most modern comforts and is aimed to meet the growing demand of services expressed by businessmen and tourists which more and more numerous visit the country. The airport, situated at 5 kilometres from the city, is connected with the centre of Ashgabat by lines of buses and taxis.
